I had to google "pebkac"!!! So you think the user (ie me) makes mistakes pressing the "upgrade" button??? Maybe I pressed the "please show me an error message" button by mistake!!
The pre-upgrade checks show no issues with any extensions, which are all up to date and compatible with J4 & J5. So it must surely be a compatibility issue with the Joomla core code and PHP8.2? I have 9 websites over 2 different hosts ranging from event booking sites to simple no-extension sites and every site is bringing up the really unhelpful "500" page. I can accept a host issue if was only using one host, and I could accept an extension issue if all sites had the same extensions, but this is not the case.
I do wonder if Joomla is now being upgraded purely for the benefit of the coders and not for the benefit of the end user. Certainly I dread seeing an update availability as I wonder what errors and how many hours of my time this is going to take.
If Joomla is only meant for people who are experts in PHP and general coding, it should say so. Errors bringing up a red screen with 500 splashed on it and the words UnsupportedAdaptorException are of absolutely no use to the vast majority of Joomla users. And here I am a week after changing to PHP8.2 (as recommended for J4) and after many hours trying to work this out I am no better off and have to resign myself to sticking to PHP8.1 because nobody can help other than to suggest it might be my fault.
